September 1995: Bujinkan Hombu Dojo Rules
- Our purpose is to live a healthy life, without harming society, by culturing
the natural relationships of nature and mankind through the martial ways.
- All members must have a membership card for the year, issued by Hombu dojo.
There are two types of membership cards General membership cards and
Shidoshi-Kai membership cards.
- Membership must be renewed every year.
- Members of the Shidoshi-Kai may apply to Hombu dojo for licenses up to 4-dan
and award these to their students.
- Shidoshi-ho are those from 1-dan to 4-dan, and may award their students up to
the grade under themselves.
- Shidoshis may award their students up to 4-dan.
- When awarding licenses to students, the standard fee you should charge them is
twice the price you pay to Hombu dojo for the license. The resulting profit is to
be used for your own training and studies in budo. Shidoshi-Kai members have a
special status in that they may profit from the community when ordering training
badges, lapel pins etc. from Hombu dojo, and thus enable the martial ways to flow
smoothly.
- Only membership cards and licenses from Bujinkan Hombu dojo will be
recognized as valid. Those who offend against this principle will be expelled
from the Bujinkan dojo.
- Criminals (those who break the law) and those who are mentally abnormal may
not become members.
- The "bujin" symbol is copyright protected. If planning to use it you must
contact Hombu dojo first for permission.
- Members must follow bufu-ikkan(the martial ways as a principle everyday of
your life) for the sake of protecting natural justice and happiness through the
martial ways, without turning to personal profits and desires.
- Members must always contact Hombu dojo directly, and build up a community of
members.
- Communication with Hombu dojo must be in Japanese. This is to help business
to run smoothly, now that Bujinkan has become international. In addition, it is
because much of the true nature of true martial ways cannot be expressed except
in Japanese.
