A Wedding in Gaucho Country
challenge.
Lee Newman & Cibele Vieira were getting married in Brazil and needed a website that would allow them to provide timely information to their guests, who were located worldwide. They were having a typical "gaucho" wedding and wanted to reflect that theme in the site's design. The site needed to be partially bi-lingual, with select sections in Portuguese so that their Brazilian guests would be able to access the information as well.

They also wanted the site to act as a wedding planning tool, allowing them to collect RSVP and travel itineraries from their guests.

solution.
In keeping with the "gaucho" theme that Lee & Cibele wanted to emphasize, rich earth tone colors were chosen for the site design. Images showing typical gaucho activities, which would also be part of the wedding ceremony, were selected to highlight the theme.

The site was developed using ASP which allowed us to display select information depending on the language selected by the user. Portuguese and English navs were developed that were simple and easy to read for less savvy computer users.

A separate, persistent nav was developed so that users could easily RSVP, send their itineraries or email Lee & Cibele. A database storing this information was recommended but Lee wanted a simpler solution. The RSVP and itinerary forms sent an email to Lee, Cibele and their wedding planner with the data attached as a comma-separated value (CSV) file. This data was then imported into Excel to aid with wedding planning.
