We hung out, ate Oreo double-stuffs and hummus, chatted, knit and crocheted, got to know each other and had a good time as evidenced by the pictures below:
By the end of the event, nearly everyone had knit or crocheted a swatch to donate to what will become a series of patchwork blankets:
(There is an unfinished blanket in this pile which I promised to complete.)
In addition to the work done at the Knit-Out, a number of folks brought already finished blankets for the main raffle. These blankets can be seen here on our regular blankets received page.
Finally, to add to the fun of the event, we held two raffles. The first raffle was our thank you for showing up to the event. The prize consisted of some fun, animal-themed japanese stationery that Sage, the founder of the Critter Knitters Coalition, contributed and a copy of "Vogue Knitting on the Go: Baby Blankets" that I donated.
The second raffle was open to all who had contributed swatches or finished blankets and we awareded two "summer fun" prize packages. Congratulations go to Elaine C. & Katy M. for the summer fun prizes and to Ellen C. for our "thanks for coming" prize.
We also received a few extra goodies for our prize bags -- wonderful "snauzer head" buttons donated by Ilene C. (who couldn't attend but sent the gifts along with friends of hers) which were included in the first raffle and three knitting books from Katie T. -- which will be raffled off at a future knit-outs).
We had lots of yarn and needles available thanks to our entrepid Knit-Outers who brought extra supplies. Unfortunately I have forgotten the names of everyone who contributed but wanted to express my thanks to ALL who donated!
All in all, it was a pretty full day, running from noon until five but it was fun and I am happy we will be doing it again.
Many, many, many thanks to: Alexandra L., Allana S., Barbara V., Chia T., Eileene C., Elaine C., Elaine L., Ellen C., Fran L., Gi A., Irene S., Janet F., Jodi E., Jozie C., Katie T., Katy M., Leslie C., Linda S.
