100 best novels according to modern library
in reading about banned books week, i found that a third of the books listed in modern library's list of the 100 best novels of all time had been removed or threatened with removal from public libraries and schools.

curious, i went to see which of the books listed were in my list of read books.

i have read the following from the board's list of choices:
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
Catch-22 by Joseph Heller
The Grapes Of Wrath by John Steinbeck
I, Claudius by Robert Graves
Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Tender Is The Night by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Animal Farm by George Orwell
Lord Of The Flies by William Golding
The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
A Farewell To Arms by Ernest Hemingway
Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh
The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles

and these from the reader's choice list:
The Lord Of The Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
Stranger In A Strange Land by Robert Heinlein
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
The Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger
Animal Farm by George Orwell
The Grapes Of Wrath by John Steinbeck
Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Lord Of The Flies by William Golding
Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov
The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams
The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood
A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
The World According To Garp by John Irving
Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury
The Haunting Of Hill House by Shirley Jackson
I, Claudius by Robert Graves
Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs
It by Stephen King
Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh
A Farewell To Arms by Ernest Hemingway
The Sheltering Sky by Paul Bowles

hmmm... i'm not quite as well read as i thought. i better work on that.
